Saudi Arabia Visa for Indians 2026: eVisa, Package Visa, Umrah
· 8 min read · By the Travlys visa team
Indians can get a Saudi eVisa or visa on arrival only with a used US, UK or Schengen visa, UK, US or EU permanent residency, or GCC residency. In 2026 a new Package Visa opened another route, and Umrah now has a one-year multiple-entry visa.
Yes, Indians need a visa for Saudi Arabia. If you hold a used US, UK or Schengen tourist or business visa, permanent residency in the UK, US or EU, or a GCC residence permit, you can apply for an eVisa online, and the first two groups can also get a visa on arrival. Everyone else can use the new Package Visa, bought with a flight-and-hotel package from a ministry-approved provider, or apply through the Saudi embassy.
At a glance: Standard eVisa list: India is not on it. eVisa with US/UK/Schengen visa or GCC residency: SAR 339.44 (about US$90.50), insurance extra. Visa on arrival: SAR 395 with insurance, for US/UK/Schengen visa holders and UK, US or EU permanent residents. Package Visa: SAR 402.21 with insurance, single entry. Stay: Up to 90 consecutive days. Passport: Valid six months beyond entry. Umrah: Book your permit on Nusuk.
Can Indians get a Saudi tourist eVisa?
Not directly. India is not among the 68 countries whose citizens can apply for the standard Saudi eVisa. Indians qualify for an eVisa only through a US, UK or Schengen visa or residency, or a GCC residence permit, or through the new Package Visa.
Route 1: eVisa or visa on arrival with a US, UK or Schengen visa
Visit Saudi, the official tourism site, sets out these conditions for Indian passport holders.
- Visa type: Your US, UK or Schengen visa must be a tourist or business visa. Student or work visas are not listed.
- First visit: The visa must be valid and carry an entry stamp from the issuing country. Digital entry stamps are not accepted.
- Returning visitors: If you already entered Saudi Arabia on a Saudi visit visa that is still valid, you do not need to re-prove your US, UK or Schengen visa.
- Permanent residents: A permanent residence permit from the UK, US or an EU country also qualifies.
- Passport: Valid for at least six months beyond your entry date.
You apply for this eVisa on the KSA Visa portal (ksavisa.sa), to which Visit Saudi links. The fee is SAR 339.44, about US$90.50, and medical insurance is charged separately by the provider. If you prefer, you can take a visa on arrival for SAR 395, which includes insurance; for this, your US, UK or Schengen visa must have been used at least once. Go to the passport control office on arrival.
Watch the entry-stamp rule: The EU's Entry/Exit System became fully operational on 10 April 2026 and records Schengen entries digitally instead of with passport stamps. Saudi rules say digital entry stamps are not accepted. If your only Schengen trip was recorded digitally, confirm with your airline or the KSA Visa portal before you rely on that visa.
If you live in the Gulf
Indians with a GCC residence permit can get the eVisa if the residency is valid for at least three months beyond the entry date. Children under 18 apply after a parent's eVisa is issued.
Route 2: the Package Visa (new in 2026)
Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Tourism now offers a Package Visa to Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Indonesian, Egyptian, Jordanian and Mexican passport holders. You buy a complete package from an approved travel provider and the tourist eVisa is issued with it. No US, UK or Schengen visa is needed.
- Package must include: A ministry-licensed hotel of 4 stars or above, a confirmed return flight and the visa application with medical insurance.
- Minimum value: SAR 4,000 per adult for the first two days, plus SAR 1,000 for each extra day. Up to five children under 18 can join without counting towards this.
- Length: Between 2 and 88 days. Hotel nights must match the flight dates.
- Booking window: Buy at least 48 hours before departure.
- Visa: SAR 402.21 including insurance, single entry, valid three months from the departure date. Issued within 48 hours of purchase at most.
- Cancellation: Cancelling the package cancels the visa. If the visa is refused, the provider refunds refundable services but not the visa fee or insurance.
The packages do not include services in Makkah or Madinah, but Visit Saudi says the visa lets you travel to any city once you are in the country.
Route 3: a visa through the Saudi embassy
If none of the above fits, apply for a visit visa through the Royal Saudi Embassy in New Delhi or the consulate in Mumbai. Visit Saudi lists the documents: proof of residence, return ticket, proof of employment, bank statement, flight itinerary, identification and your address in Saudi Arabia. Medical insurance is extra. Ask the embassy or its authorised visa centre for the current fee and timeline.
Umrah from India: visa options and Nusuk
- Umrah package with visa: The usual route is to book through a provider licensed by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. The Nusuk Umrah portal lists approved providers, and its comprehensive packages include the visa.
- Tourist visa: Any Saudi tourist visa, including the Package Visa, allows Umrah (but not Hajj). You still need an Umrah permit from the Nusuk app.
- New one-year Umrah visa: Launched on 20 July 2026, it allows multiple entries over 365 days with a total stay of up to 90 days. Each visit needs its own Nusuk package and permit, and the visa does not work from 1 Dhul Qadah to 13 Dhul Hijjah.
Several reports say a standard single-entry Umrah visa must now be used within 30 days of issue. We could not confirm this on an official page, so plan to fly soon after your visa is issued.
Single entry or multiple entry?
Visit Saudi lists both single-entry visas (valid three months) and multiple-entry visas (valid one year), each allowing up to 90 consecutive days. However, Business Standard and Fragomen reported that from February 2025 Saudi Arabia issued only single-entry visit visas to Indians and nationals of 13 other countries. We found no official notice confirming this or saying it has ended, so check the entry type on your visa before planning a second entry.
Riyadh Season and practical tips
- Riyadh Season 2026: It opened on 21 October 2026 and runs for about ten weeks, with concerts, boxing and other events. Book hotels early for event weekends.
- Free stopover visa: Visit Saudi lists a free transit or stopover visa when you fly Saudia or flynas, allowing a stay of up to 96 hours. You pay an application fee of about SAR 39.50 plus insurance. Check eligibility on the airline's site when booking.
- Insurance: If your visa fee excludes insurance, buy cover that meets the portal's requirements before you apply.
- Dress: Dress modestly, especially at religious and heritage sites.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Applying on the main eVisa form as an Indian without a qualifying US, UK or Schengen visa.
- Relying on a US, UK or Schengen visa you have never used, or one without a physical entry stamp.
- Planning Umrah without a Nusuk permit, or assuming permits are available around the Hajj season.
- Cancelling a Package Visa booking, which also cancels the visa.
- Paying an unofficial website instead of the official portals.

Frequently asked questions
Can Indians get a visa on arrival in Saudi Arabia?
Yes, but only if you hold a US, UK or Schengen tourist or business visa that has been used at least once and carries an entry stamp, or a permanent residence permit from the UK, US or an EU country. Visit Saudi lists the visa on arrival price as SAR 395, with medical insurance included. Indians without these documents cannot get a visa on arrival.
Can I do Umrah on a Saudi tourist visa?
Yes. Visit Saudi says any type of visa allows travellers to perform Umrah, excluding Hajj. You must book your Umrah permit through the Nusuk platform or app before you go to the Grand Mosque. Permits are restricted around the Hajj season, so check permit availability on Nusuk before you fix your dates.
What is the Saudi Package Visa for Indians?
It is a tourist eVisa issued when you buy a travel package with flights and a 4-star or higher hotel from a provider approved by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Tourism. It is open to Indian passport holders without a US, UK or Schengen visa. The visa fee is SAR 402.21 including insurance, it is single entry, and the package must be worth at least SAR 4,000 per adult.
How much does the Saudi eVisa cost for Indians?
For Indians who qualify through a US, UK or Schengen visa or GCC residency, Visit Saudi lists the eVisa fee as SAR 339.44, about US$90.50, with medical insurance charged separately. The visa on arrival costs SAR 395 with insurance included. The Package Visa costs SAR 402.21 including insurance, on top of the package price.
Does my Schengen visa need to be used for the Saudi eVisa?
For a first visit, yes in practice. Visit Saudi says your US, UK or Schengen visa must be a valid tourist or business visa with an entry stamp from the issuing country, and digital entry stamps are not accepted. Since the EU's Entry/Exit System replaced passport stamps in 2026, check before you rely on a Schengen entry recorded only digitally.
What is the new multiple-entry Umrah visa?
Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah launched it on 20 July 2026. It is valid for 365 days from issue and allows several entries, with a total stay of up to 90 days. Each visit needs its own package from an approved Nusuk provider and an Umrah permit. It is deactivated when you leave and does not work during the Hajj season.
