Singapore Visa for Indians 2026: Fees, Documents, Transit Rules

· 8 min read · By the Travlys visa team

Indian passport holders still need a visa for Singapore, filed through an authorised visa agent. Here is the 2026 fee, the documents, the timeline for a December–January trip and the 96-hour transit option.

Yes, Indian passport holders need a visa to visit Singapore in 2026, and you cannot apply for it directly with ICA or the High Commission. You apply through an Authorised Visa Agent, pay a ₹2,100 visa processing fee plus an agent service charge of up to ₹1,300, and usually get a decision in 3 to 5 working days. If you are only passing through on your way to or from a third country and hold a valid visa from one of eight listed countries, the 96-hour Visa-Free Transit Facility may let you enter without a Singapore visa.

At a glance: Visa needed: Yes, for Indian passport holders. How to apply: Through an Authorised Visa Agent, or a Singapore citizen or PR contact with Singpass. Fee: ₹2,100 processing fee plus up to ₹1,300 agent charge (Delhi and Mumbai). Chennai lists SGD 30 plus ₹1,000. Processing: 3 to 5 working days. Passport: Valid at least six months from the date you enter Singapore. Stay: Decided by the ICA officer on arrival and shown on your e-Pass. SG Arrival Card: Free, within three days before arrival, includes the health declaration. Transit: 96-hour visa-free transit if you meet the conditions.

How Indians apply: authorised visa agents only

Singapore does not take visa applications from Indian travellers at its missions or at the airport. Each Singapore mission in India appoints Authorised Visa Agents (AVAs), who check your documents and submit them online to the mission. Use only an agent on the official list for your region.

Which list you use depends on where you live:

  • New Delhi High Commission: Agents in Delhi NCR, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Nepal. The list was last revised on 1 August 2026.
  • Mumbai Consulate-General: Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat and Odisha. If you live in Ahmedabad or anywhere in Gujarat, this is your mission.
  • Chennai Consulate-General: Agents in Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

There is one other route. If you have a contact in Singapore who is a citizen or permanent resident, aged 21 or over, with a Singpass account, they can submit the application online for you and issue Form V39A, the Letter of Introduction. Most holiday travellers do not have such a contact, so the agent route is the normal one.

Singapore visa fee in 2026

The official pages do not all show the same figure:

  • New Delhi and Mumbai: A visa processing fee of ₹2,100 per application, plus an agent service charge of ₹1,300. That is about ₹3,400 in total. Mumbai says the ₹2,100 fee took effect on 1 January 2026, and that agents make no extra charge for urgent applications.
  • Chennai: The page lists the fee as SGD 30, converted to rupees by the agent, plus a ₹1,000 visa service fee. It also tells you to ask the agent about any other administrative charges.

All three missions say the processing fee is non-refundable, whatever the outcome. If anyone quotes much more, ask them to split it into the government fee, the agent fee and their own charge.

Documents you need

The official checklist for a tourist or business visit is short:

  • Form 14A, filled in completely and signed by you.
  • Passport valid for at least six months from the date you enter Singapore, plus a copy of the bio-data page. Chennai also asks for the last page.
  • One recent colour photo, passport size, taken within the last three months and meeting the mission's photo guidelines.
  • Form V39A (Letter of Introduction), which Delhi may ask for case by case and Mumbai lists as a document. Mumbai also accepts an LOI from your embassy if you have no local contact.
  • English translations of any document in Hindi or another language.

The mission can ask for more papers case by case, and the Mumbai page reminds you to have enough money for your stay. In practice, keep recent bank statements, your hotel booking and your return ticket ready, even if the agent does not upload them. You do not need to buy a flight ticket before applying. If you do buy one and the visa is refused, the loss is yours, so pick a refundable or changeable fare.

Processing time and timing for a December–January trip

Singapore's missions say applications generally take 3 to 5 working days. The count leaves out the day you submit, weekends and public holidays, and some files take longer. The Mumbai consulate advises applying within 30 days before you arrive.

For the year-end rush, work backwards. Christmas Day and New Year's Day are holidays, and demand rises in the weeks before. For a trip between 20 December and 5 January, submit between 20 November and 5 December. That leaves time to fix a rejected photo or a missing letter without moving your dates.

Validity and length of stay

Two separate things decide how long you can stay. The visa validity is the window in which you may seek entry to Singapore. Each application, including its validity, is decided on its own merits. The length of stay is decided by the ICA officer when you arrive. It appears on your e-Pass, which is emailed to the address you gave in your SG Arrival Card. The e-Pass shows the maximum days allowed and your last permitted day.

Holding a visa does not guarantee entry, and visas cannot be moved to a renewed passport. To stay longer, apply online to ICA when 14 days or less remain on your visit pass. ICA charges S$30 for visa-required visitors, plus S$40 if your total stay reaches 90 days or more.

SG Arrival Card and e-health declaration

Every traveller entering Singapore must submit the SG Arrival Card (SGAC) with its electronic health declaration before arrival. You must submit it within three days before you arrive, counting the day of arrival. Earlier submissions are not accepted. It is free on the ICA e-Service or the MyICA app.

ICA has published a list of 63 commercial websites that charge for the SGAC and are not linked to ICA. Do not pay for it. Enter an email address you check, because that is where your e-Pass arrives. If you transit at Changi without clearing immigration, you do not need an SGAC.

The 96-hour Visa-Free Transit Facility

Indian nationals are among those who may use the Visa-Free Transit Facility (VFTF). If you qualify, you can leave the airport and spend up to 96 hours in Singapore without a Singapore visa. ICA's conditions are:

  • You are in transit to or from a third country via Singapore. A round trip from India to Singapore and back does not qualify.
  • You may arrive by any mode, but you must leave by air or sea.
  • You hold a confirmed onward air, ferry or cruise ticket leaving Singapore within 96 hours.
  • You hold a visa or long-term pass issued by, or valid for entry into, Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, the UK or the US, valid for at least one month from the date you enter Singapore.
  • Single Journey Visa holders qualify only on the direct return leg from the issuing country, through Singapore, to home.
  • The stay cannot be extended, and ICA officers still decide entry at the checkpoint.

Example: you fly Ahmedabad to Singapore to Sydney with an Australian visitor visa valid for six more months. You can stop over for up to four days. A Schengen visa from France or Italy does not count; only Germany is on the list. If you transit airside at Changi without clearing immigration, you need neither a visa nor the VFTF. If any condition is uncertain, get a visa.

Automated lanes at Changi

ICA says all travellers can use the automated immigration lanes. First-time visitors enrol at the lane itself with iris, face and fingerprints, with no advance registration. On departure, iris and face are usually enough. The lanes are for travellers aged six and above.

What changed in 2026

  • Fixed rupee fee: The Mumbai consulate lists a ₹2,100 visa fee from 1 January 2026, and New Delhi shows the same figure. Agents in Delhi and Mumbai may charge ₹1,300 on top.
  • No-Boarding Directive: From 30 January 2026, ICA can tell airlines flying into Changi and Seletar to deny boarding to flagged travellers. This includes people who do not meet entry rules, such as having no valid visa or a passport with less than six months' validity. A denied traveller must write to ICA through its Feedback Channel for approval before booking a new flight. In May 2026, ICA said it would widen the scope later in the year.
  • Visa transfers stopped: The Mumbai consulate no longer transfers a visa from an old passport to a new one. You apply again.

In practice, your visa and passport are now checked at check-in in India, not only at Changi.

Common reasons for refusal or delay

ICA does not publish reasons for refusals. These are the problems that most often hold up files:

  • Form 14A with blank columns, or details that do not match the passport.
  • A photo older than three months or not meeting the specification.
  • A passport with less than six months' validity on the date of entry.
  • Past overstays, immigration offences or earlier refusals you did not declare.
  • No clear purpose for the trip, or too little money for the stay.
  • Using a person who is not an authorised agent, so the file never reaches the mission properly.

Frequently asked questions

Do Indians need a visa for Singapore in 2026?

Yes, Indian passport holders need a visa to enter Singapore in 2026. India is on ICA's list of visa-required countries. The only exception for most Indian tourists is the 96-hour Visa-Free Transit Facility, which works only if you are travelling to or from a third country and hold a valid visa or long-term pass from one of eight listed countries, such as the US, UK, Australia or Japan.

What is the Singapore visa fee for Indians?

The visa processing fee is ₹2,100 per application on the New Delhi and Mumbai mission pages, and authorised agents may add a service charge of ₹1,300, so expect about ₹3,400. The Chennai consulate page still lists SGD 30, converted to rupees, plus a ₹1,000 service fee. The fee is non-refundable even if the visa is refused, so check your documents before you submit.

Can I apply for a Singapore visa directly with ICA or the High Commission?

No, you cannot walk into the High Commission or apply to ICA yourself. Indian applicants apply through an Authorised Visa Agent listed by the Singapore mission for their state, or through a local contact in Singapore. That contact must be a Singapore citizen or permanent resident aged 21 or over with a Singpass account. ICA also does not accept visa applications at immigration counters on arrival.

How long does a Singapore visa take for Indians?

Singapore missions in India say a visa generally takes 3 to 5 working days. That count excludes the day you submit, weekends and public holidays, and some applications take longer. For a Christmas or New Year trip, apply in the second half of November or early December. The Mumbai consulate advises applying within 30 days before you arrive.

Can Indians transit Singapore without a visa?

Yes, if you qualify for the 96-hour Visa-Free Transit Facility. You must be travelling to or from a third country, hold an onward air, ferry or cruise ticket leaving Singapore within 96 hours, and carry a visa or long-term pass for Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, the UK or the US with at least one month of validity. If you stay airside at Changi without clearing immigration, you do not enter Singapore at all.

Is the SG Arrival Card free and when should I fill it?

Yes, the SG Arrival Card is free when you submit it on ICA's e-Service or the MyICA app. You must submit it within three days before arrival, counting the day you arrive, and it includes the electronic health declaration. ICA warns that some websites charge a fee for this. Those sites are not linked to ICA, so do not pay them.
